Bridges and steel structures from the second half of the 19th century that were largely erected by the Ignaz Gridl company can be found, among other places, in Styria, Slovenia, and Carinthia. The starting point for our project is the historic conservatory at the Graz Botanical Garden, where studio ASYNCHROME asks questions about merging and blending in an age of social transformation with their work Fusion. The work evolves in the interstices of the glasswork along the entrance facade. Visible even at a distance, from the outside, the work is transformed when one enters the building.
In Ingenium Stage, Isabel Belherdis deals with what is hidden, referring to forgotten or unknown individuals, objects, and entities from the fields of cultural history, technology, and science—and specifically to the meaning and perception of the term and person of the “engineer.” In addition, David Kranzelbinder briefly focuses on the Lippitzbach Bridge, as filmed from the Jörg Haider Bridge.
In early October, two bus trips to Maribor, Ruden, and to the cultural and historical exhibition at Kunstraum Villach seek out important Gridl monuments.
