Systems of Belief

Exhibition

The large-scale group exhibition Systems of Belief brings together artistic positions that deal with alternative belief systems. In a world where everyday life is shaped by political and ecological states of emergency, societal constants such as science, business, and politics are increasingly put to the test in public debates. At the same time, anonymized and algorithmically controlled sources of communication have an almost unlimited power to affect our perception. Their digital structures and systems are expressions of the technocratic mechanisms that shape our public sphere. In this depersonalized and almost metaphysical realm of technological processes, any form of irrational behavior within the apparatus seems increasingly impossible. The exhibition Systems of Belief takes this supposed space of impossibility as its starting point and, through the perspectives of several generations of artists, attempts to penetrate worlds in which technology is used not for the purpose of conformist regulations but for generating chaos and for the expression of unorthodox dogmas and spiritual self-knowledge or self-actualization.
