Sandro De Alexandris

Sandro De Alexandris (1939, Turin, Italy) studied at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Torino from 1956 to 1960. In 1969, he participated in the International Painting Weeks at Neue Galerie Graz within the framework of steirischer herbst, which brought his series Measurement of Space into the collection. The works are monochrome white surfaces that unfold in space and deconstruct the canvas as a support for images. He varied the square surfaces according to mathematical principles. His works are held, among others by, GAM—Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Turin, Cantiere del ’900, Milan, Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Villa Croce, Genoa, and Neuen Galerie Graz. He lives in Turin.
