Echtzeitkunstwelt (Real-Time Art World)
Installation and performance concert
Echtzeitkunstwelt is an online multiplayer framework in VR (virtual reality). Through the interplay of various art forms (puppet theater, music, dance, visual art, et cetera), the project examines the possibilities of performance and liveness in digital space—always adapted to the specifics of the site.
For the ORF musikprotokoll, Grünbühel, Unfug, and Pirch are expanding their Echtzeitkunstwelt and constructing a virtual-reality, walk-through musical instrument at the esc medien kunst labor. Sounds, beats, and samples can be manipulated physically via virtual objects, thereby creating a choreography—interactively, individually, or collectively. Visitors can influence the process through glances or movements on-site. Controllers spread out throughout the entire space and buttons that require the use of a person’s whole body make playing music a physical experience. The online multiplayer function allows people all over the world to participate.
